Thats what I call an introduction to a new brand. Weve seen Longines Flagship L4.216.4.52.6 (L42164526) a couple of these brands before and most of them disappear as quickly as they were launched anyway.I could be wrong of course, and perhaps their website is still in beta phase or that I misread the specifications of this watch (I just read all the features of the 3rd party Dubois Depraz movement and the case dimensions) or that this watch is just $995, but I expect that it is not.According to Europastar, only 275 pieces will be made of their AC01 model (as pictured above). This means that Mr Claude Sanz isnt probably in it for the money, so what is his drive? I noticed that Arcadia will be attending the GTE (Geneva Time Exhibition) 2011 in January, an exhibition for independent watchmakers. Lets hope that Arcadia will still be around by then and will have some more information available that will proof that I am being too sceptic Longines Flagship L4.216.4.52.6 (L42164526).

A quick query on Chrono24 and eBay did not give a result on Arcadia (watches) at all.Now, I love watches and give kudos to anyone starting a new watch brand driven on innovation, [complicated] mechanical techniques and design but starting a brand driven on the fact that they bought an old brand name, using a crappy website with no background on their company other than a few pictures of watches and a few lousy one-liners is becoming quite annoying.Let me quote about half of the websites text here:Now, after falling victim to the quartz revolution, ARCADIA, and its incredibly avant-garde models, are being reborn under Bunter President Claude Sanz – a passionate devotee of Longines Flagship L4.216.4.52.6 (L42164526) history.

The main thing is the shape of the crystal, which is quite Longines La Grande Classique - PVD L4.209.2.42.8 (L42092428) difficult to photograph I assume. But as you can see on the picture above, there is a small folding line from 3 oclock to 9 oclock. Although it is a relatively small watch (25mm wide, 8.5mm thick and a length of 38.5mm, including the lugs), it will not look bad on most mens wrists at all since watches of that era were always small. Collectors of these type of watches probably dont care whether it will look good on their wrist or not. The crown of this watch is unsigned, but nevertheless original. Having your brands logos everywhere on the watch was uncalled for in those days.There have only been a few of these watches for sale on auction sites such as Antiquorum, and the last one was in 2005. The last ref.4591 Antiquorum auctioned in 2005, has been up for sale on James List recently (click here) but it doesnt seem to have this particular shaped crystal.The hand wound Vacheron Longines La Grande Classique - PVD L4.209.2.42.8 (L42092428) Constantin movement caliber 435/3C is tonneau shaped and fits perfectly in the 18 carat gold case.Horloge Platform Nederland is asking 5950 EU for this classic dress watch.

It reminded me of scenes from The Godfather when the Corleones hang around with Moe Greene in a Las Vegas casino. Somehow, 1950 watches do that to me Longines La Grande Classique - PVD L4.209.2.42.8 (L42092428), I might be the only one though.So, what it so special about this watch?
